Bebe Kleinman, MNM
Position: CEO

Bebe has over 35 years working experience in the nonprofit sector focusing on serving the needs of low-income children and families. She has been the CEO of Doctors Care for 21 years and is passionate about supporting and creating a more just and fair society for all members of the community. Bebe continues to innovate solutions to strengthen the nonprofit sector and ensure that everyone has the health care and health coverage they need to live happy and productive lives. Selected as a Colorado Trust Fellow in 1996, she returned to school to receive a Master’s in Nonprofit Management from Regis University. She enjoys her work on many community boards and committees as well as previous work for The Women’s Foundation of Colorado as Program Director, Director of Development for The Gathering Place, Executive Director for Douglas County Senior Services, and Director of Social Services for Sheridan County Memorial Hospital in Wyoming.
Alisa Spilman

Alisa has worked in the nonprofit sector since 2003 in community relations, information technology, and operations. She is responsible for supervising the Clinic, Health Access, Quality Improvement, and Information Technology departments at Doctors Care. Additionally, she has a Bachelor’s in Science in Nursing from Regis University. Alisa grew up in Littleton, and loves serving the community she lives in.
Jana Baker
Position: Human Resources Senior Manager

For over 25 years, Jana has served numerous nonprofit organizations as a staff member or volunteer. She has been the Volunteer Manager at Doctors Care for the past eight years and is continuing that role along with managing our staff. Jana is passionate about working with the vulnerable in our community and thoroughly enjoys engaging other volunteers to use their skills, experience, and compassion to do the same. She also loves to cook for her wonderful volunteers!
Elizabeth Hockaday
Position: Development and Marketing Director

Elizabeth has worked in marketing and development departments for nonprofits since 2008. She loves new challenges and experiences that broaden her knowledge professionally and personally. Elizabeth is a passionate individual that wants to make a difference in the lives of others, whether it is through her work with Doctors Care or in her personal life. She has worked for multiple nonprofits including domestic violence organizations, a local symphony and other art organizations, and affordable housing. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor’s in Nonprofit Management for the Arts from the University of Oklahoma and a Master’s in Nonprofit Management from Regis University. Originally from Oklahoma, she became a Coloradan in 2015 and has enjoyed the outdoor activities and scenic views. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, son, and Jack Russel Terrier, and spending time with friends and family.
Stephanie Segal, MD
Position: Medical Director

Dr. Stephanie received her medical degree from the University of San Antonio Health Science Center and has 20 years of experience as a family physician. Her experience ranges from training at John Peter Smith County Hospital in Ft. Worth, TX, helping run a small family-owned practice, and recently as a physician for Kaiser Permanente. Dr. Stephanie joined Doctors Care as the Medical Director in June 2022 and is very excited to transition to the non-profit sector full-time. She chose family medicine because of the opportunity to build long-term relationships with her patients and their families. She has been involved in numerous volunteer activities throughout her career and is very passionate about helping the whole person. Dr. Stephanie maintains a volunteer faculty position with the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and frequently precepts medical students. In her free time, she enjoys year-round outdoor activities such as tennis, camping, hiking and skiing, or playing the ukulele at an open mic night.
Nhora Suarez
Position: Clinical Teams Director

Nhora was born in Colombia, South America, and moved to Denver when her husband’s work relocated the family. Nhora attended Red Rocks Community College and took ESL classes to learn English. She continued her education at Red Rocks and obtained her Medical Assistant certification from the AAMA. Her desire to get in the healthcare field was due to an experience with a family illness. Nhora believes in Doctors Care’s commitment to the community and in helping people, especially the many patients she sees and cares for every day.
Laura-Elena Porras
Position: Health Policy and Coverage Program Director

Laura-Elena graduated in 2021 from the University of Colorado Boulder with a B.A. in Sociology, a minor in Leadership Theory. In addition, she holds certificates in Public Health and Peace Conflict as well as Security Studies. Prior to joining Doctors Care, Laura-Elena worked as a research assistant at CU Boulder in the School of Education with a focus on a student voice program within Denver. During her free time, Laura-Elena enjoys hikes with her fur-baby Lilo and spending quality time with her two nephews.

Ashely Arce

Ashely’s friends and her husband provide her with the fuel she needs in her free time. She loves traveling with her husband and finding brand new places to eat across Colorado.
Shelby Blickenstaff, FNP

Shelby joins Doctors Care after working as a Family Nurse Practitioner for one of Colorado’s hospitals. Caring for critically ill patients gave her a fresh perspective on the profound impact of health disparities within the community, and she is eager to break down barriers and deliver quality health care. Shelby received her Master in Science – Family Nurse Practitioner from Regis University. She was awarded a Daisy and nominated for Nurse of the Year at the hospital. In her free time, Shelby loves spending time with her husband, two-year-old daughter, and dog. She loves to do yoga despite her efforts to master a handstand.
Kathy R. Butler, LPC
Position: Behavioral Health Counselor

Kathy comes to Doctors Care with several years of experience as a therapist from Florida. Her experience working within community-based programs over the years inspired Kathy to obtain her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling. Being fluent in Spanish, she moved to Colorado as a bilingual therapist. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), mental health prevalence is on the rise and Kathy is excited to help break down barriers for people by ensuring they have access to mental health services. Her work with Doctors Care allows Kathy to utilize her skills and assist in addressing behavioral health issues that clients may face in the community – children and adults alike.
Gloria Calderon
Position: Enrollment Specialist

Native to Colorado, Gloria brings a variety of experiences to Doctors Care. She holds a Paralegal certificate from Community College of Denver and has volunteered as a translator at events where lawyers provide free advice. Gloria worked in human resources for over five years and enjoys every minute of her nonprofit career. She loves being active and playing sports with her amazing daughters and nephew.
Sitlali Calderon
Position: Enrollment Specialist

Sitlali is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Metropolitan State University of Denver, while also being a part of the Coverage team as an enrollment specialist. She earned her associate degree in accounting from the Community College of Denver and hopes to earn her master’s degree as well. Sitlali says Doctors Care’s equitable environment for the staff, patients, and volunteers drew her to the organization. In her free time, she likes to attend yoga and Pilates classes and spend time with her family.
Dianis Cardona
Position: Medical Assistant

Dianis graduated from Pima Medical Institute in 2013 with her certification as a Medical Assistant. Dianis desires to provide excellent care for patients and is excited to grow her clinical knowledge with Doctors Care. When she is not working, Dianis loves to spend time with her three daughters doing activities such as swimming, going to the mountains, attending baseball games, and bike riding.
Mikenna Coover

Mikenna is a Colorado native who grew up in a rural community and moved to the metro area in 2018 for school. She graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a degree in Biology and a post-baccalaureate certificate in Allied and Professional Health Sciences. Mikenna knows her way around Doctors Care, having volunteered here since 2021. She has always been passionate about helping people, but the pandemic opened her eyes to the obstacles patients face when it comes to accessing and paying for quality health care. She wants to be a part of the solution to making health care accessible and affordable for all.
Sue Covington, PA-C

Sue received her medical education at the University of Colorado Health Science Center and has practiced as a Physician Assistant for over 30 years. After practicing Primary Care for 3 years in Los Angeles, California, she moved back to Colorado to work with the first Pediatric Hospitalist group in Colorado providing inpatient, neonatal, and intensive care at five Denver Metro Hospitals. After working with the Pediatric Hospitalist group, Sue returned to Primary Care in private practice in Littleton and eventually joined Doctors Care in 2008. She is on the Clinical Faculty for The Children’s Hospital and Rocky Vista University and works with Physician Assistant and Family Practice Residency programs to teach students and interns. She is proficient in medical Spanish. She now directs and oversees the clinic operations at Doctors Care as well as continuing to provide medical care to clinic patients.
Brieanna Delgado

Brieanna has been in the medical field for seven years and enjoys helping patients. She attended College America, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration. Brieanna took a break from school shortly after her first child was born and looks forward to completing her Bachelor’s, creating a better future for herself and her family. In her free time, she enjoys being with her three children, going to their little league sports events, and being around family.
Erica Enriquez

Erica returns to Doctors Care as a medical assistant. She received her medical assistant diploma from Westwood College in 2003 and completed her clinicals at Doctors Care afterward. Erica has decided to return to Doctors Care because of our mission, vision, and values of providing affordable, high-quality care to patients who need it most. She finds purpose in relieving stress for patients in need. In her free time, you can find Erica and her kids exploring all that Colorado has to offer, especially any lake, waterfall, or river.
Kriste Hardt, PA-C
Position: Quality Improvement Senior Manager

After completing her medical training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Kriste practiced medicine for four years at a pediatrics practice in northeast Denver where she provided primary care in school-based and traditional clinic settings and neonatal care at three Denver area hospitals. She first joined the team at Doctors Care in 2011 because she wanted to provide primary care in her local community. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she performs administrative work as the Quality Improvement Senior Manager, coordinating several grant-funded programs. A native of Littleton, Kriste enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and skiing during her free time.
Taylor Hart
Position: Information Technology Senior Manager

Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Taylor graduated from Belmont University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship. After beginning his professional career in inside sales, he quickly transitioned into the information technology field. Upon moving to Denver in 2015, Taylor has since joined the Doctors Care Health IT team providing user support for its staff and volunteers. As a former 400-meter state champion and college scholarship track runner, Taylor enjoys athletics and outdoor activities, most of which include skiing and hiking and cheering on the Vanderbilt Commodores back home. He is an avid enthusiast of all things technology and is excited to bring his expertise to Colorado and the Doctors Care family.
Cristina Lopez

Cristina was born and raised in Littleton and Doctors Care is part of her DNA. She is a product of Littleton Public Schools, having attended East Elementary and Goddard Middle School before graduating from Littleton High. Following high school, Cristina studied business at Arapahoe Community College to receive her associate’s degree. Cristina has four kids and has always wanted to work at Doctors Care since her kids became patients here 12 years ago. She is happy to be able to work so close to home in a community that means so much to her.
Darcy Luebbert, BA
Position: Behavioral Health Advocate

In 2021, Darcy graduated from University of Colorado Boulder with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minor in Spanish. She then worked on the therapy team at an inpatient psychiatric hospital in Denver for two years, and gained extensive experience with crisis management, crisis stabilization, de-escalation, and case management. Her priority at the hospital was establishing patients with continued mental health services after their discharge. Being bilingual has allowed her to provide mental health services for the extensive Spanish-speaking community in Colorado. Darcy is an advocate for increasing awareness of the mental health struggles that affect more than 700 million individuals in the world and is passionate about eradicating the stigmas attached to mental health. There is a growing shortage of mental health professionals in the U.S., and she hopes her work can help close that gap. Working with Doctors Care allows Darcy to continue her efforts to ensure everyone has access to quality mental health support.
Helda McCauley
Position: Receptionist

Helda has an AA degree in Psychology from Valencia College in Orlando, Florida. She has more than ten years of customer service experience. One of her goals is to get her Bachelor’s in Psychology and work in the behavioral health field. Florida native, Helda moved to Gunnison, Colorado, in 2022 and recently relocated to Lakewood. Helda has two dogs, Lucky and Athena. Her pets are her world, and she spends almost all her time with them and her husband. If she isn’t spending time with her fur babies, she is listening to music on her daily walks. Helda is also an avid Harry Potter fan – Hufflepuff for life!
Stephen McNelis

Stephen was born and raised in New Jersey and graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in broadcast journalism. He spent a decade working for local TV stations in Southwest Florida and Denver as a producer. Stephen has now lived in Colorado for the past eight years and loves everything our state has to offer. In the winter, you can find him exploring hot springs across our state with his boyfriend, and in the summer you can find the two of them backpacking through the mountains.
Estela Nunez

Estela has lived in Colorado for most of her life and graduated from Concorde Career Institute for medical billing and coding. She has worked as a receptionist in a medical setting for more than 15 years. Estela loves interacting with all the patients, especially the children. That passion for helping kids extends to her home life as well, where she is a loving grandmother to seven grandkids. In her free time, Estela loves listening to music and watching a good true crime movie.
Amy Smith

Amy is a British native who came to live in Colorado 20 years ago. She finished high school before moving here and went to Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology where she earned her Associates of Applied Sciences degree in Veterinary Technology. She worked as a vet tech for 15 years before joining Doctors Care. She decided to switch to human medicine and earned certificates in Medical Coding and Billing, as well as Advanced Medical Terminology. She is a Certified Professional Coder with the AAPC. Amy enjoys show jumping and spending time with her husband and their two children. Together, they love to go camping and riding in their can-am machine up in the mountains.

Mary Ann Littler (Chair)

Mary Ann is an executive coach, trainer and advisor backed by more than 36 years of executive leadership, international business development, operations, customer excellence, product management, team management and sales leadership. She began her career in the high tech industry as an Account Manager and was rapidly promoted to Executive Briefer with the AT&T Global Briefing Program. In 1991 she was promoted to General Manager with AT&T Computer Systems managing a multi-state sales region. In 1999, Mary Ann was promoted again to Vice President/General Manager for an AT&T/Avaya business partner – Expanets – where she built a $100M business spanning 8 states. Upon the merger of Expanets to Avaya, Mary Ann led the sales transition and then became the Vice President for Services at Avaya.
In 2015, Mary Ann opened her own company – Peak to Peak Business Strategies – providing executive & business coaching and business consulting. She enjoys speaking, teaching, coaching and consulting for clients on a global basis. In 2020, Mary Ann joined Spark Growth Strategies as Growth Coach providing small and medium size businesses with branding and digital marketing services. Through Spark and Peak to Peak, she provides a wider portfolio of coaching and consulting services to current and potential clients.
Mary Ann graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Management from the University of Northern Colorado. She also attended The Executive Marketing Program at Columbia through her work at AT&T and Lucent Technologies. She is trained in Change Management and LEAN through her work in Lucent and Avaya.
Morre Dean, Sr. VP (Vice Chair)

As a healthcare executive for over 30 years, Morre’s personal mission is to make a positive difference in people’s lives every day. His leadership experience includes Executive Advisor roles in innovative care delivery, health system leadership roles, and CEO roles at four hospitals.
Morre currently works as an Executive Advisor to Scripps Health and other major healthcare organizations on transforming care delivery utilizing digital and virtual care models. Previously, he served Adventist Health as the President of Adventist Health Hospital @Home. This team, across seven geographies in two states, transformed traditional hospital care by admitting over 1,000 acute inpatients in the program.
Morre loves serving on the Doctors Care Board because of the organization’s impact in his community and the significant alignment with his personal values. He resides in Lone Tree, Colorado, and enjoys all the great things about living in his home state.
Katie Lozano, MD, FACR (Past Chair)

Dr. Katie Lozano is a career-long advocate for patients in her practice and in medical and radiological organizations at local, state, and national levels. She was recently President of the Colorado Medical Society, and currently serves on the American Medical Association (AMA) Radiology Section Council Executive Committee. She previously chaired the AMA Young Physicians Section and the American College of Radiology (ACR) Resident and Fellow Section, served on the ACR Ethics Committee for over a decade, and received the AMA Foundation’s Excellence in Medicine Leadership Award. She serves on the board of directors of her practice-based groundbreaking charitable organization which has a mission to make diagnostic imaging accessible to patients in unserved and underserved regions throughout the world. As a medical student, Dr. Lozano co-directed and volunteered at a free clinic staffed by medical students. Now, as a radiologist with Virtual Radiologic, a national emergency teleradiology company, she is honored to serve another year as Chair of the Doctors Care Board of Directors.

Kathy Ashenfelter (Treasurer)

Kathy Ashenfelter has served on Doctors Care’s Board of Directors for 25 years. Kathy has had a 33 year career with HealthOne/HCA, including 23 years as the Chief Financial Officer of Swedish Medical Center. She currently holds the position of Vice President of Resource Management for HealthOne. Kathy is active in the community and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Lung Association of Colorado, the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado, the Dumb Friends League, and the Colorado Humane Society.
Gary VanderArk, MD
Position: Doctors Care Founder

Dr. Gary VanderArk was born and raised in western Michigan. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree from Calvin College and a medical degree from the University of Michigan. Dr. VanderArk spent three years serving his country at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, and moved to Denver in 1970 to start the neurosurgery program at Denver Health.
Over the course of thirty years of neurosurgical practice in south Denver, Dr. VanderArk organized the Colorado Neurological Institute, the Colorado Coalition for the Medically Underserved, and Doctors Care. He has received multiple accolades for his work in the medical field, including The Pride in the Profession award from the American Medical Association. Dr. VanderArk now spends his time as a full-time community volunteer. He and his wife, Phyllis, have two children, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He has spent the last twenty years as a volunteer teaching medical students and Bible classes.
Chase Aalborg

Chase Aalborg served as Chief Operating Officer at AdventHealth Littleton. Chase focuses on extending the healing ministry of Christ so that every person can enjoy every moment. Chase had devoted more than a decade to the ministry at AdventHealth, serving in multiple administrative roles between the Denver and Chicago markets.
Chase received his Master of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting from Regis University in Denver and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance from Walla Walla College in Washington.
Chase and his wife have two young children. They enjoy camping in the mountains with family and friends and experiencing everything Colorado has to offer.
Ellen M. Burkett, MD

Dr. Ellen Burkett graduated from Texas Christian University with a B.S. in Nursing in 1978. She graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1987 with an M.D. degree. She completed her internship, residency, and chief residency in internal medicine at the University of Colorado Health Science Center. Dr. Burkett is board certified in Internal Medicine. She has provided the highest quality medical care since 1989. Dr. Burkett is an active member of the American College of Physicians, the Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert Medical Society, the Colorado Medical Society and the American Medical Association. Her practice has achieved Level III NCQH recognition for Patient Centered Medical Home.
She is the Medical Director for MedSouth IPA and Board Chair of CHN. Dr. Burkett is married with three grown children.
Andrea Chase

Andrea Chase is an Executive Director with 17 years of experience serving the board of directors at the Arapahoe-Douglas-Elbert Medical Society. Andrea has worked with physicians in the South Metro Denver area since 1995 specializing in physician relations at Anthem and as the Director at MedSouth IPA. Andrea has a passion for customer service in the workplace and uses her positive energy to assist physicians and practices to succeed. Andrea is inspired daily by her husband and their four kids. In her free time, Andrea likes to play pickleball, golf, and any family activities including her French bulldog, Juju.
Michael Erlandson, MD FAAFP
Position: Program Director, Swedish Family Medicine Residency

Dr. Erlandson is an Illinois native who attended Augustana College and completed his medical training at Southern Illinois University. He spent 4 years serving as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force and came to Colorado to complete family medicine residency training at Swedish Medical Center. Dr. Erlandson has been on the faculty at Swedish since 2011 and currently serves as program director.
Seth Gursky, MD
Position: Medical Director, Centura Medical Physician, Cornerstar Primary Care

Seth Gursky, MD, believes in ethical treatment of patients and served as a member of a medical ethics committee at East Jefferson Hospital in Louisiana. Additionally, his beliefs follow giving back in volunteerism, offering his medical services to athletes during the Crescent City Classic 10k race held in New Orleans and to misplaced residents of Hurricane Isaac. Dr. Gursky’s participation in medical missions to Nicaragua involved supervising medical students and providing primary and urgent care to underserved residents.
He graduated from St. Matthew’s University in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, B.W.I and is certified in Family Medicine from the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Gursky’s residency training was completed at Family Medicine Resident East Jefferson General Hospital at the Tulane School of Medicine in Metairie, LA.
Mary Newell, RPH

Mary has been a pharmacist for over 50 years, with 40 of those years working for King Soopers pharmacy. Born and raised in Wray, Colorado, she graduated with a bachelor’s in Pharmacy from the University of Colorado. Mary is very active in the pharmaceutical scene, serving as president for the Colorado Pharmacist Society, Secretary-Treasurer, and now president for the Colorado Professional Employees, and served on the board for Peer Assistance Services for over 15 years. Along with her husband, she occasionally works as a pharmacist at her brother’s independently owned pharmacy in Wray, Colorado, Foltmer Drug. Mary has been married to her husband, Jim, for over 50 years and has four children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Beverly Razon, MBA
Position: Vice President/Public Affairs, COPIC

Beverly Razon is the Senior Vice President of Public Affairs for the COPIC family of companies. She directs the government affairs activities in COPIC’s regional market and oversees COPIC’s public engagement, corporate social responsibility efforts, and the COPIC Medical Foundation. She works to build relationships with business, community, patient advocates and health care organizations to identify opportunities to partner on issues of joint importance. Her efforts have led to successful collaborations on legislative and policy initiatives as well as projects involving the improvement of health care delivery and patient safety.
Beverly moved to Denver from Washington, DC where she worked on Capitol Hill for over seven years. She holds a masters in business administration from Regis University and bachelors of science from Doane College. She is the current Chair of the Healthcare Council and serves on the board of the Colorado Chamber of Commerce and is the past Chair of the Colorado Competitive Council at the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. Beverly serves on the boards of the Colorado Perinatal Care and Quality Collaborative and Doctors Care. Beverly is an alumni of the Denver Metro Leadership Foundation’s Impact Denver (’09) and Leadership Denver (’15) programs and was recognized as one of Colorado’s Most Powerful Women in Business by the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce in 2021.
Mary White
Position: Vice President, HCA/HealthOne

Mary White has served on the Board of Directors of Doctors Care since 1996. She has had a long career in Hospital and Healthcare Administration, serving in leadership positions in Denver Hospitals and Systems. Mary has served on multiple not-for-profit boards as well as Civic boards, including South Metro Chamber of Commerce and Mountain States Employers Council. Mary is originally from Pennsylvania and is married with three sons.
Lawrence G. Wood, MD
Position: Former CMO, Littleton Adventist Hospital

Dr. Wood practiced Internal Medicine in Littleton for many years and was the Chief Medical Officer at Littleton Adventist Hospital before retiring. He attended the University of Colorado for his BA and MD. Dr. Wood serves on the board for Doctors Care, Colorado Physician Health Program, and Lumunos. In his retirement, he enjoys riding his bike, spending time with his grandchildren, doing yard work, and taking walks with his wife.
