Doctors Care is unique compared to other safety net programs because of our comprehensive services to patients, utilization of volunteers, and ability to adapt to the changing needs of those we serve.

The organization’s commitment to whole-person care extends beyond clinical services inclusive of medical and behavioral health care, to offering free programs that address and alleviate barriers to health and well-being. Volunteers are essential to daily operations and serve as clinical providers, health insurance guides, scanners, and more. Volunteers throughout the organization increase the amount of care we can provide patients and clients without increasing costs.

Doctors Care continuously evolves and adapts its programs to address the changing needs of marginalized communities. For example, the organization initially provided care primarily for the uninsured. Now, the clinic sees uninsured, Medicaid, Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+), and Anthem patients. 

Doctors Care’s Connection to Coverage program helps individuals enroll in Medicaid as a certified assistant site and is an Enrollment Center for Connect for Health Colorado. Doctors Care uses resource navigation services to address health-related social needs – a result of social determinants of health – that exist for many in our patient population. Today, our Care Coordination, Behavioral Health, and Connection to Coverage programs complement Doctors Care’s primary care clinic by addressing barriers to care, including limited access to specialty providers and social barriers that prevent individuals from obtaining basic health care needs.
