Strength in Collaboration

We at Doctors Care are grateful for the many collaborative relationships we have with like-minded and like-hearted organizations in our community. One of those organizations, The Denver Seminary, has been a friend to Doctors Care for many years. As part of the annual Denver Seminary Day of Service, Doctors Care has welcomed teams of helping hands comprised of staff and students to help with various projects to improve and beautify the Doctors Care building. This year, the service project was extra special.

From my office window I look out on our Little Free Pantry located in our parking lot. It is a project started by a few Heritage High School students. The Little Free Pantry is a grassroots solution to local food insecurity. Whether a need for food or a need to give, the Little Free Pantry facilitates neighbors helping neighbors and building community. The Little Free Pantry is popular with our patients and the local neighborhood. The high school students work really hard to keep the pantry stocked but often can’t keep up.  So, for this year’s Day of Service, a group from Denver Seminary went out into the larger community to conduct a door-to-door food drive. They came back with bags of non-perishable items for us to have on hand when supplies run low. This small group of individuals with big hearts and endless enthusiasm achieved things like collaboration and community engagement that are close to my heart.

The Denver Seminary Project this year was multi-faceted:

  • To serve the patients at Doctors Care by collecting food.
  • To support high school students in service to others.
  • To share the news of the collaboration between Doctors Care, Denver Seminary, and a community in need with those who may not be aware of the good work being done by all these groups.

Thank you Denver Seminary for joining in this valuable community effort. Thank you Heritage High School students for taking the initiative to implement this innovative project. Collaboration makes us all stronger!
