Immigration Rights
The election has not changed government policy. Many in immigrant families qualify for government programs that help with health care, food, rent, and other basics. And using programs like Medicaid for health care, “SNAP” for help with food, and “Section 8” for help with rent will have no effect on immigration applications.
Frequently Asked Questions

Should I worry about public charge?
If the government decides that a person is a “public charge,” their application to enter the US, or to get a green card, may be denied.

- Refugee Status
- Special Immigrant Juvenile Status

Are there health insurance options for me in Colorado?
Yes. Colorado has three options for immigrant/undocumented persons to receive health insurance:
- OmniSalud is a program that provides undocumented Coloradans and DACA recipients with a safe way to compare affordable health insurance plans and enroll on a secure online platform, Colorado Connect. Enrollment begins November 1 of every year. Doctors Care strongly encourages those interested in this program to make an appointment before enrollment starts to ensure a smoother application process. - Cover All Coloradans is a program that starts January 1, 2025, with enrollment applications being accepted beforehand. This program is an expansion to Emergency Medicaid, providing pregnant people extended care up to 12 months postpartum and keeping children covered. - Kaiser’s Colorado Bridge Program gives Colorado residents who can’t get any other health coverage a chance to be covered via Kaiser. Members receive a subsidy to help pay monthly premiums, and pay affordable copays or out-of-pocket costs for most care at Kaiser Permanente facilities. Click here to learn more.
