Safety-Net-Clinic-Week-2016-largeNext week Doctors Care, along with other Community Safety Net Clinics (CSNCs) and federally certified Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) will celebrate the 7th Annual Safety Net Clinic Week. It’s a week to learn about and celebrate the essential health care services these clinics provide to low income Coloradans who are uninsured, underinsured or insured through public programs like Medicaid and CHP+.

Community Safety Net Clinics like Doctors Care serve patients and families that experience or are at risk of experiencing health disparities due to income level, race and/or ethnicity, geography and other social, economic and environmental realities that contribute to poor health outcomes. We do not refuse patients based upon ability to pay and provide a variety of services including primary care, mental health, dental and specialty care, along with free programs designed to address socioeconomic barriers to health and well-being. Safety Net Clinics like Doctors Care fund our operations through grants, patient revenue and in-kind donations. Our clinic staffing model includes a significant number of volunteer providers and support staff.

The Doctors Care safety net model is built on a commitment to providing long-term solutions to access for the underserved, which begin with coverage, extend to care, and ultimately to our clients’ overall health and well-being. In the 28 years since its founding, Doctors Care has served more than 25,000 low-income residents of South Metro Denver and provided more than $70 million in medical services to individuals in need. In honor of Safety Net Clinic Week, we encourage you to learn more about Doctors Care, and how you can support our efforts in serving the community by visiting www.doctorscare.org.
